We are delighted to announce that Clive Chilvers from YouGrow CIC (social enterprise) has been awarded funding from The National Lottery to create the Beacon Community Garden & Kitchen.
This new initiative will transform unused outdoor areas around The Beacon Community Centre into a vibrant, resident-led community garden. Fresh, organic produce grown here will be used in our newly established community kitchen to prepare nutritious vegetarian meals — shared at monthly community lunches and available for local collection.
This project is in collaboration with The Beacon Community Centre and Our Exeter CIC, this project will promote environmental sustainability through composting, rainwater harvesting, no-dig gardening, and pollinator-friendly planting. Support wellbeing by offering opportunities to learn sustainable food growing and cookery skills and strengthen community connections by bringing residents together through volunteering, workshops, and shared meals.
We are very excited and can’t wait to start growing in 2026!
